Another Successful Summer Camp Season Comes to a Close

August 6, 2015

Dear Friend/s of LaMoine Christian Service Camp,

As I write this letter, our summer camp season is coming to an end. As a matter of fact, today is our last day of hosting sixty-nine 5th and 6th grade campers. This is really a great age to work with because they are so open to learning about Jesus and what it means to give their life over to Him. As is usually the case our camp season will end on a high note. Soon we will all rejoice with the angels in heaven as our pool is transformed into a baptistery and three more children are born into God’s family.

The summer has been challenging in some ways and rewarding in others, but then, that could be said of every summer camp season. This year we struggled with equipment breakdowns and more than our share of rain. Even so, we came through okay and the campers probably didn’t mind the wet or even notice the behind the scenes equipment failures. Of course, the rewards are about 971 excited and joyful campers (114 more than last season), money raised for worthy missions, tons of spiritual growth, and several life-time commitments made to loving and serving Jesus Christ.

Even though the summer camp season ends today, our ministry work here does not. We have a Hamer wedding at the camp this weekend and then next week some quilters will come in for four days and three nights. The following week we will once again host WIU’s Camp Leatherneck for incoming freshman. I thank you for all you do for our camp and ask that you pray for us year round as we continue serving God here at LaMoine.

Serving Our Savior Together,

Doug Hamer/Camp Director
